MISSON & VISION
The mission of Hope Kenya is to restore and empower poor people and their communities through education focused on children and women's health.
Focusing on education allows us to build a strong foundation for learning, leadership and service to community and to God.
Why focus on children and women? Research shows that women and children tend to suffer more when safety nets in poor communities fail. Yet, these same groups are more likely to propel a community out of poverty when well resourced.
Hope Kenya provides a model for working with communities, building the required foundation that enables people to escape from poverty.
We asked Mama Beth, the headmistress of Hope preschool what Hope looks like to her.
It means working hard to earn a preschool teaching certificate with assistance from Hope Kenya. It means waking up early every morning and going to work with kids and parents - teaching basic life skills, literacy and what it means to be a Christ follower.
It also means having a predictable job and being able to pay school fees for daughter Michelle, who is a high school student at Vyulya Girls High School, in Machakos County. And lastly, it means helping and mentoring young student teachers as they volunteer at Hope preschool and work hard to finish their studies.
Hope Kenya is proud to walk alongside Beth as she leads her community in a long journey out of poverty.
